Membership Routes and Mutual Recognition Agreements FAQ

  • Will I be able to retain my membership if the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) or the Member Route Agreement (MRA) reaches its expiration?

Absolutely. Members who have joined the EICPA Association through an MRA or MRA will retain their membership status, even in the event that the agreement expires.

  • If I obtain membership with EICPA Association through the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) or the Member Route Agreement (MRA), am I required to maintain my membership with my original professional body as stipulated by these agreements?

Indeed, maintaining dual membership is a fundamental requirement for any Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) as well as certain Mutual Professional Agreements (MRAs) that explicitly stipulate this condition within their terms.

  • As a member of the EICPA Association, will I be required to complete additional Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours?

As a member of the EICPA Association, you will not be required to complete any additional continuing professional development (CPD) hours beyond what is already mandated. However, it is essential that you report your CPD hours to both the EICPA Association and your respective professional membership organisation. To comply with the requirements set forth by the International Federation of Accountants, you must accumulate a total of 120 CPD hours over a three-year period, ensuring that you complete a minimum of 20 hours each year.
